Paintsville is the county seat of Johnson County, Kentucky located in the
foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The current population of Paintsville/
Johnson County is approximately 23,000. Johnson County’s 264 square
miles are characterized by beautiful green mountains divided by running streams.
The history of Paintsville dates back to 1790 when a Virginia Colonel named
James Preston came with a group of trappers and traders to establish a trading
post for furs and hardware. Paintsville is now known for economic growth,
tourism attractions and its state acclaimed educational systems. Paintsville/Johnson County offers visitors a chance to visit the past and view Appalachia’s progressive future.
I’m proud to serve as the Executive Director of the Paintsville/Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. This affords me the opportunity to work with City and County officials, as well as the people of our community to improve and expand our opportunities for growth. People working together to bring growth to our city and county is what makes
the Chamber stand out and excel.
One of our goals is the recruitment and commitment to new businesses wishing
to locate in Paintsville/Johnson County. With an experienced and enthusiastic
Executive board, we are able to provide a sounding board as well as a repertoire of
experience to such businesses. We are very proud to be a part of the continued
growth and renewal of Paintsville/Johnson County. We are also pleased to
partner with organizations such as Paintsville Tourism, Paintsville Main
Street , Big Sandy Community and Technical College and other civic groups about fostering growth and continued success to our town and county.
